Hey fellows,
this is the official Justin Hombach UA-cam Channel.
I'm a guitar player from Germany. Mostly I play all styles but I love styles like Jazz, Fusion, Metal, Progressive, Blues and shredding.
Currently I'm studying Jazz Guitar at the Music College in Frankfurt/Main in Germany.
In this channel you will see some live videos, some shredding videos (recorded back in the days at my parentshouse), some videos of my bands or of my solo-project and in the future I'd love to make some nice UA-cam guitar lessons.
Right now I've got a new UA-cam mini-series called "Practice diary". Every Sunday I'll upload a video of some practice session I was doing during the week. So check it out!!
Stay for a while to chat about music, guitar and so on...
You can book me for studio jobs, live gigs and as a teacher as well.
If you have any questions about me, music, guitar playing or more, feel free to ask. :)

Another great exercise to get your picking chops down is the triple unison section towards the end of Metropolis pt 1. Lots of wacky uncommon patterns and movements played at a very high speed and all picked
Oh yeah! Awesome example :))

how long have you been playing guitar for?
Started 2003, but that is not important for progress. I played really shitty for a really long time 😂😂
@@justin.hombach I love your channel by the way. I bought your zen of speed picking it really helped me.
Justin I remember in an old video you suggesting not starting licks with upstrokes. Do you remember? Wondering why.
It depends on the purpose, here it is more of an exercise to boost your picking precision. To get used to different picking situations and scenarios. I rather start every thing with a downstroke so I have the downbeat accent on the downstroke.
Just awesome
Nice mate!. It's really inspiring and I would like to do that challenge too, BUT there's a big hindrance, the fricking boring "corporate Job" you need to go 8 to 10 hours a day to pay the bills.😂. I miss the good old days when you will just lock the room, Listen to Yngwie, MAB, Paul Gilbert, Vai, Tony, Nevermore, Dream Theater, etc. and learn their songs after listening.🙂🤘
the holy grail of 'songs I really want to be able to play but cant', great job man!
I still think Kirk gets unfairly targeted. Surely not all his solos are masterpieces, but seriously the entire rock n metal world is full of generic players who dont get slack for doing the same things Hammett has been up to as of late.
Amazing..
He always sucked in guitar bro,not only now,ALWAYS!

Dude, it's a pleasure to watch you because you don't just play it, you feel it! It's infectious to get excited. Awesome!

John Petrucci practices about 8 hours a day outside of recording and touring. On tour, John Petrucci practices about 6 hours a day inside the tour bus or hotel.
Uniqe conversation, lovely ♥️
i'm 52 and started playing only a couple of months ago. How I wish I could play the guitar for 12 hours a day. Even 4 hours a day would be magnificent. But my body just doesn't wanna follow. Great video, I'm a new sub. Keep grinding it all the way
Very Interesting. I've been a professional for 38 years but haven't practiced in nearly that entire time until recently when I began using the upright. I am hooked on practicing now. Oddly enough, it's never made me dime, and I'll probably always still just defer to electric sessions and gigs but, I use it for my mediation and my core.
nice plot twist lol
12 h / day is insane. The reason i left shredd guitar is that i dont like to spend a lot of time practicing the same stuff. But yeah, it is nice to see the results of guys that work a lot for their skills. Awesome chanell man, keep doing stuff.
The Result is type 2 diabetes... you need move your ass! 😅
Dear Justin, we live in strange times, if you study medicine and study 12 hours a day, ordinary people would consider you a hardworking student, but because we play this instrument and if we practice the guitar, those ordinary people consider us "weird". the guitar is always on me and I practice while watching TV .. I can separate my "brain" from my hands so I'm never "bored" practicing.. but everyone has their own way.. in any case I admire your work and you are an example to all guitarists , I raised my children and there is only one thing that is really "me" my instrument..bestregards from Sarajevo
Highway to left handed glove... go on, smell the glove! ;P
I don‘t necessarily think it will lead to this. Or I hope we are one the same page you are referring to getting focal dystonia at a certain point. No the big difference I would say is, I absolutely don‘t stress my self. I have enough brakes and a good awareness over my body. The quantity of the practice hours are higher but the quality not necessarily low. Because of the way how I structured everything and tried to have a good mix between learning and practicing.
@@justin.hombach I'm just pulling your leg. Any pun involving a take on Spinäl Tap is worth the pun. :D Also I CANNOT believe that tonight I will try to convince my wife to a 600km+ day trip to Dordrecht.

I kinda liked it so far :D I mean it is only three episodes yet and I think it is hard to judge a series based on three episodes. But the Szenario with the witches and the twins from last episodes was quite interesting, Master Sol seems to be a cool guy :) But I am also someone who will defend episode 8 till death, as one of the best SW movies. :D

Aye Sir!
Lol yes. A barber is the one that cuts hair.
I try to practice around 3 hours a day which, for a working adult, is often more challenging than I'd like. But I spend some of that time on very technically-focused practice that generally isn't sustainable for hours and hours anyway, and other time working on riffs (got your 10 speed picking etudes!) and compositions. I've found that splitting up the practice helps a lot, like doing an hour or so of technical exercises in the morning and then everything else in the evening after work.
I practice (almost) every day 4x20 min with some short breaks (5 to 7 min) in between. For me, this is already quite a lot. But I am a pure hobby guitar player and still, more or less, a beginner. Also I have a normal day time job to do, so more would be quite tough. Okay, on weekends sometimes a little more😀. But even this already helps to improve a little😀.
4x20 is also absolutely enough :) Especially when you are a) still a beginner and b) have a life… not like me 😂 🥲
Altaaa !!!
